The title says it all, honestly.

I was watching a course from a Korean artist and they had a checklist. I compiled it out of curiosity and one section asked if I was “watching animations, films and dramas as part of your [my] study”.

The truth is, I don’t.

It’s a problem I’ve had for as long as I’ve lived: I really struggle with watching anything, either because it doesn’t hold my attention at all or because I’m not interested at all.

My culture about movies is non-existent. I barely know the most famous ones, the most famous actors or movie directors just because I’ve heard them before. What movies are trendy today or what people like? I don’t know, I don’t care, I don’t bother to watch.

I’ve watched very little movies in my lifetime, while tried others where I had to quit after a few minutes.

Dramas may as well not exist in my knowledge.

Animation, instead, is a bit better, for the simple fact people talk about what they watched and I can see on social media, from the fanart going around, which media in that branch is popular in that period.

Yet again, I don’t really watch anything.

It’s hard to force me to do it, even if a friend or a family member tries to. I’m quite stubborn myself, but I really struggle with being interested; I simply don’t care!

I feel like I waste my time if I force myself. I just like static pictures, anything animated or with big effects annoys me.

Of course, I do have my favorites! I am not completely devoid of movie or animation experience. I’ve watched most old Disney animation films, I like the two Top Gun a lot (I even own a DVD and watched the second movie at the theater!), Bridge to Terabithia made me cry, I liked Matilda and Misery. One of my most favorite animated films is The Snow Queen from 1957.

I guess growing up just made it way harder for me to appreciate anything that moves.
