Happy new year.

It’s not “good” that the first post of the year is going to be not so positive, but there’s not much else I can talk about.

I started surfing the internet pretty young. I was on forums, when they were still pretty popular, while making my first steps on deviantART, when it was still about art and not slop. At that time, it wasn’t a great period for me in any case, so the internet offered me a way to know new people who shared my same interests and see new things. It’s also how I learned English, so in a way, I am grateful for those experiences.

I’ve always favored the internet world to the real one, in part because nothing really stimulated or interested me in real life, and mostly because I could look up anything, I could study whatever I want, I could chat with people from around the world, it really was a world of wonder for me.

In all honesty, it stayed that way for several years, even when social media was starting to become a norm than personal blogs/sites and forums.

I don’t want to blame it on genAI. I’ve become quite intolerant of the internet citizens and their stupid opinions formed from ignorance.

I am, frankly, tired of reading cases upon cases of illiteracy of people, from media to functional illiteracy, prejudices, free hate, slop content, all of this.

It really feels like the “sea” of the internet has become tainted, and we’re surfing on liquid shit.

Despite all this, I don’t have anywhere else to go. I am still figuring it all out.
